Finite element analysis of an aluminium tank of six axles

Remtec manufactures aluminium tank trailers for petroleum products transport. The project consisted in analysing the structural behavior of the tank on a sharp turn where many wheels slide laterally by rubbing on the floor to allow the trailer to pivot on itself. The goal was to compare the impact of different propositions of reinforcement on the constraint level in the forward zone of attachment of the trailer. Moreover, a topological optimization analysis allowed determining the shape of an efficient and light reinforcement plaque.
