Jean-Luc Trahan to lead AluQuébec
(Montréal, May 21, 2015) AluQuébec, the Quebec Aluminum Industrial Cluster, announces the appointment of Jean-Luc Trahan as its new CEO. This appointment was made at the organization’s annual general meeting held today in Montreal. Having served until recently as chair of Commission des partenaires du marché du travail, Mr. Trahan brings with him an impressive portfolio of accomplishments in the areas of politics, business support, and partner coordination.
As a manager specialized in socioeconomic issues, Mr. Trahan brings with him extensive experience in strategic planning, communications, and the management of parapublic and private organizations. His expertise will be an important tool in achieving AluQuébec’s goal of doubling aluminum processing in Quebec over a ten-year period while supporting the industry’s equipment suppliers. Mr. Trahan has an impressive track record. Before chairing Commission des partenaires du marché du travail, he served as president of MEQ – Quebec Manufacturers and Exporters from 2006 to 2009. He also worked in the office of the mayor of Montreal from 2001 to 2006, and as part of the team at Ministère de l’Industrie, du Commerce, de la Science et de la Technologie (MICST) in the early 1990s, where he had an opportunity to put into practice the concept of industrial clusters.
Jean Simon, outgoing chair of the AluQuébec board of directors, is delighted that Mr. Trahan will be joining the AluQuébec team. “Jean-Luc Trahan brings to all cluster components his in-depth understanding of the economy of Quebec and its regions, as well as his experience supporting exporters,” he said. Mr. Trahan is pleased to be joining AluQuébec at a key time for the aluminum processing industry. “The industry is eagerly awaiting the release of Quebec’s aluminum development strategy, now in the works at Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations du Québec. I am very excited by the challenge of taking part in implementing this important government initiative that will foster wealth and job creation in Quebec, something that is right in line with my past accomplishments,” stated Mr. Trahan.
